In Florida politics, State Rep. Randy Fine — a MAGA Republican and ally of Gov. Ron DeSantis — has a reputation for being a major attack dog. Fine, his critics say, is big on character assassination, calling Democrat Phil Moore (who ran for a city council seat in Palm Bay, Florida) a "career criminal" in 2022. But journalist Michael Daly, in an op-ed published by the Daily Beast on February 21 , slams Fine for saying "nothing" about a cocaine/DUI case involving his ally Peter Filberto . Filberto, the son of a former Palm Bay mayor, is the Republican who successfully ran against Moore in a special election in March 2022 .
